The JobSpan System was originally developed to operate with the Keren II Management Information System. This MIS was previously supplied by Isys plc and more recently by Radius Solutions Limited.

The objective was to develop a web-based system that would allow the plan to be accessed anywhere and provide the user with an electronic version of a traditional planning board. Whilst there are some rules to placing jobs on the board, these have been kept to a minimum to allow an experienced planner total control over the system. Jobs can be downloaded directly from the Keren database and once loaded to the board, the progress and tracking is also updated from the database.
